Thomas J. Boyd

Thomas J. Boyd June 30, 1927 - February 25, 2010 Thomas J. Boyd of Ossining, formerly of Scotland and the Bronx died Thursday, February 25, 2010. He was born on June 30, 1927 in Mossend, Scotland to Harry and Jean Giles Boyd. He was 82. Mr. Boyd lived his earlier years in the Bronx graduating from Fordham Prep in 1946. He served in the Air Force from 1946 to 1947 and was stationed in Mississippi and the Hawaiian Islands. He married Mary Manion on Dec. 26, 1961 at St Bernard's Church in Waterville, NY. He was a parishioner of St Ann's Church in Ossining. He held a Bachelor of Science Degree from Fordham University where he was an avid Fordham basketball Fan. He received his Master of Arts Degree from Teachers College. Graduate courses were also taken at Colgate and Syracuse Universities. He taught at the Pierre Van Cortlandt School in Croton from 1957 to 1966. He also taught at the Irvington Middle School from 1966 until his retirement in 1988. He is survived by several cousins here and in Scotland. Mr. Boyd was predeceased by his wife Mary and his sister Agnes Mcilmurray. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM with the funeral mass on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Church.
