Orson “Jim” Porter

Orson "Jim" Porter November 12, 1923 - February 15. 2010 Orson "Jim" Porter, 86, entered eternal life on February 15, following a brief illness. Born in Yonkers, November 12, 1923, to Helen Ryan and Orson Porter, he attended Yonkers schools. He married Adele Gauthreaux on April 22, 1944, at St. Mary's Church. In 1989 he moved from Yonkers to Mahopac. A delivery man for various dairies for 27 years he was known throughout Westchester as "Jim the Milkman". After retiring from the milk industry, he became a licensed exterminator and ran his own business, Old Bugger Pest Control for more than 20 years. Active in politics, Jim ran for Yonkers City Council as a Democratic candidate in the First Ward.. Jim was also a very active member of the Yonkers Elks Lodge 707. An avid boater, he was a commodore of the Yonkers Corinthian Yacht Club and later a fleet captain of Yonkers Yacht Club. He was a commander of the U.S. Volunteer Life Saving Corps and one of the early instructors for the New York State Safe Boating Course. In addition to his beloved wife, Adele, he is survived by his daughter Adele "Sandy" Pascucci and her husband Peter of Ossining, grandson Navy Lt. Peter Pascucci, and his wife, Michele, and nieces, Paula Osborne of Ossining and Elaine Burnsworth of Idaho. The family expresses gratitude to the staff of Skyview for the loving care given to him. Visiting hours will be held at Dorsey Funeral Home, 14 Emwilton Pl., Ossining on Thursday 4-7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at St. Augustine's Church. The interment will follow at St. Augustine's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the scholarship fund at St. Patrick's School, 117 Moseman Rd., Yorktown Heights, NY 10598, are appreciated.
