George A. Johnson Sr.

George A. Johnson Sr. June 7, 1942 - May 28, 2009 George A. Johnson Sr., 66, resident of Cortlandt Manor, died May 29, 2009. Born on June 7, 1942 to the late George and S. Agnes (Booth) Johnson. He is survived by his four children. George Jr., Dawn, Jennifer & Christine, three grandchildren, John, James and Nikki, a sister Ethel Matranga, brother Leslie Braun, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John. He recently retired as Maintenance Mechanic in Mohegan Lake. He previously worked for Springvale Apt's in Croton, and was a bus driver for Liberty Lines in Ossining for many years. George was a lifetime member and volunteer fireman for Monitor Hose Co #4 in Ossining. During his 49 years of service, George served as Chief Driver and Captain. He helped distribute food baskets to the needy during the holidays and took great pride in distributing American Flags to local cemeteries to honor deceased Ossining firemen during many Memorial Day weekends. Visiting hours will be held Monday 5-9 pm where the services will be held Tuesday 11 AM. The interment will follow at Cedar Hills Cemetery, in Montrose.
