Helen R. Minihan September 14, 1935 - March 3, 2009 Helen R. Minihan passed away on Tuesday March 3, 2009 at Bethel Nursing Home- Hospice Care in Ossining, NY from Pancreatic Cancer. Helen Rose Minihan was born in Manhattan on September 14, 1935 the first of four children born to William D. and Ruth C. Minihan. Helen attended St. Gabriel's grammar school, the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Manhattan, Hunter College and Ohio State University where she received her master degree in speech and hearing. She began her teaching career at St. Joseph's School for the deaf in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx and subsequently moved to the Suffolk County System as a teacher and later as an administrator. Helen was a devoted Sister and sister-in-law, beloved aunt and great aunt, friend to many, voracious reader, expert in needlepoint, sewing, tailoring, knitting. She was kind, generous and a lover of things Celtic. Helen in survived by her two brothers James (Virginia) Minihan of Hackensack, NJ and William (Anne) Minihan of Ossining; 8 nieces and nephews include MaryEllen Keane-Fortini, Nancy Keane, Thomas Keane, James Minihan, Ann Minihan Shaw, Michael Minihan, Veronica Lackey and Andrea Sterancsak; and 14 great nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her parents; her sister Mary E. Keane and brother-in-law Richard J. Keane. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Dorsey Funeral Home in Ossining. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa's Church in Briarcliff Manor on Saturday at 11:30 AM. The interment will take place on Monday morning at Holy Sepulchre, Coram, NY.
