Barbara Mae Jaffe

Barbara Mae Jaffe March 15, 1937 - February 19th, 2009 Barbara Mae Jaffe of Ossining, NY died at age 71 on February 19th, 2009 surrounded by loved ones in her home. The family of Barbara(BJ, Techno Mom, aka The Big Chicken) mourns the loss of a wonderful wife, mother, artist and friend. She leaves behind her a beloved husband of 48 years, Fred and three children Beth, Lynn (Chris) & David (Laurie); her grandchildren Hannah, Jacob, Emma, Kathyrn and Sophia. Born, March 15, 1937, in Shaker Heights Ohio to Florence and Lawrence Meyerson. She's a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor(BS) and Parsons The New School(BFA). As an artist she started as a potter at Clay Art center. Her pieces could be found along the east coast and were accepted into the Rhineback craft fair. As she studied at Parsons for her Bachelors of Fine Arts, Barbara moved into different mediums that eventually lead to her career as a textile designer. She was an amazingly creative and positive person who could craft fun and a positive spirit around any situation. An author and illustrator of children's books for her grandchildren and inventor of the chemo fighting monsters and happy hats LLC, technology wound up as her final medium. Memorial services will be held on Sunday March 1st at 1:00pm by Cantor Jeffrey Shiovitz @ St. Pauls on the Hill (40 Ganung Dr., Ossining NY 10562).
