Nicholas Scandalis June 7, 1914 - 8 December 8, 2007 Nicholas Scandalis (age 93), beloved husband and father began his walk with the angels this December 8, 2007. His journey on Earth began June 7, 1914 as the son of James and Mary, brother of George and Catherine. Nick graduated from OHS and immediately joined the family restaurant business, eventually becoming its owner. Nick was inducted into the US Army with the outbreak of WWII. Serving as a Sergeant for 3 ? years, Nick experienced the African and European theaters of the War with the First Engineer Special Brigade, 531st Engineer Shore Regiment; 3051st Engineer Combat Battalion. His outfit participated in all �D� Day �H� Hour invasions. Nick honorably served his country and was awarded seven bronze service stars: Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland; one bronze arrowhead; the Good Conduct medal and the French Croix DeGuerre with Palm decoration. Nick returned to Ossining and was employed by the New York State Department of Correction Services for 33 years. Nick is survived by his wife of 61 years, three children and two grandchildren.
