Aldo M. Di Nolfo

Aldo M. Di Nolfo September 30, 1924 - July 8, 2006 Mr. Aldo M. Di Nolfo, a longtime resident of Ossining, died peacefully Saturday evening, July 8 at his home. He was 81. Aldo was born in Hazelwood, PA on September 30, 1924, the son of Antonio and Rose (Gianesin) Di Nolfo. Aldo was a 1942 graduate of Ossining High School. He worked for a time for Reader's Digest before being drafted into the Army during World War II. He was proud to serve as combat engineer under Gen. George Patton's 3rd Army. He saw battle in Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, and others. He earned a purple heart. When Aldo returned from the war, he went back to Reader's Digest for 50 years, before retiring as Art Editor on November 12, 1992. Aldo was predeceased by his wife Barbara in 1985, and his brother Mario in 2005. Aldo was a member of the Ossining Historical Society, and American Legion Post #506. He is survived by his son Michael, daughter Deborah, and grandson James. The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Dorsey Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery.
